There is a high requirement of testing labs which has led to the myriads of labs in the country. It might also lead to negatives where everyone can open the lab without proper standards. Hence, a dedicated board or authority is the need of the hour, and NABL is apt in this regard. The NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) is known as the constituent body under the Quality Council of India.
If there arises a situation to set up a lab for civil testing, the first aspect is to fulfill the eligibility criteria.
- The lab should be CAB which should carry the testing, calibration, research, food processing, and development.
- Then, you need to apply for the NABL accreditation and appoint a head that should perform the formalities for approval.
- There is a relevant fee you should pay after filling up the application for the NABL accreditation process.
- The proper assessment of the application and visit will be conducted to ensure every necessary quality check. The report will be submitted and then a government body would appoint the relevant for thorough checks and confirmation exams.
- The team has to submit a detailed report and ensure every compliance is by the requirements. If any discrepancy occurs, the CAB should suggest and improve that and report back in 60 days.
- Then the NABL will grant the certificate, and the applicant has to pay any outstanding amount left.
This is the process that one should follow to get the NABL accreditation and run their labs without any seeming problems.
